Angra dos Reis is a town situated in the region of Green Coast in the south of Rio de Janeiro. Locates-itself to an altitude of 6 meters and with 365 islands in the coastline. It was discovery in 6 of January of 1502, but colonized just from 1556. The population was checked on 1st of July of 2009 and the number of population was 168,664.

It has an area of 816.3 km². The bordering towns are Paraty, Rio Claro and Mangaratiba in Rio de Janeiro territory, and Bananal and São Jose do Barreiro in São Paulo territory.

After 1872 Angra dos Reis started in decadence with the inauguration of the railroads. In the third decade of the century XX, the city got the highlight position when a railway extension links Angra to the states of Minas Gerais and Goiá.

Nowadays the importance is from the fact of having the installation of the Maritime Terminal in the Ilha Grande´s Bay – TEBIG of the Petrobras, that moves big quantities of oil and positions the port of Cove as one of the busiest one of the country.

Gentle sea in perfect harmony with mountains and waterfalls transform Angra in one of the most beautiful regions in the world. Angra dos Reis became strong in Tourism national. It has over three hundreds (300) of islands, many of they having for owners international and national celebrities, being to bigger of all named of Ilha GRANDE.
